Rednesday - My Roses (pt.2)

Sue at It's a Very Cherry World is hosting Rednesday today! I always enjoy participating and looking at every one's fabulous reds!
I cut the back yard yesterday to prepare for the planting of my 6 crepe myrtles! I also trimmed up and cleaned around my rose bushes.
I guess the Rose Miracle-Gro has really been working! This rose was the biggest and prettiest my garden has so far produced!
And I'm sure it's been helping that now I am at home and can properly care for my roses!
Of course this baby had to come inside!
And in my vase from Lena....
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my roses as much as I do!
Stop by Sue for more great red!
Happy Rednesday!

Sunday

Our hot water heater stopped giving us hot water! I tried taking one shower and that was enough! I was in and out in a matter of minutes! The girls and I went to Mom yesterday afternoon to take a warn shower. Lena decided to stay with Mom. She said "I feel bad like I'm using Nanny. I'm just so relaxed I don't want to leave!" My sweet baby!
CC and I left her with Mom and went back to the nursery. I'm sick... I have a problem... I bought two more crape myrtles.. RED ones!!! The red and the white are my favorite! The sad part is I haven't even planted my other ones yet!
We picked up asiago from Panera and headed home. I made the tomato, basil and mozzarella salad. Then CC and I cleaned the house up and down. All of a sudden she was gone. I walked in the kitchen and saw this...

My sweet CC was making sugar cookies...at 11:30 at night! We were listening to old Russian songs and some of her crazy music. It definitely made cleaning and baking go so much faster!

Toby was very interested to see what we were doing.

So she gave him a taste of the dough.

Papa Bear and I watched Date Night. I was getting ready for bed and couldn't find my Charlie. We finally found him in daddy's man cave on his chair.

He was not happy when CC made him get off.

Could It Be?

When I was feeding Luigi this morning this is what I saw...

It looked like some doggy pushed everything to one side so he could sleep on the mulch!

My poor pomegranate tree. I hope it makes it.
I didn't put up his barriers, hoes, rakes, tomato towers, after I planted the pomegranate tree.
I'm pretty sure I know for certain now what happened to my yellow rose!

Pink Saturday - Giveaway Winner

I made it to Saturday....thank goodness! This has been a super busy week and to top it off, we are all suffering from severe allergies! I have never felt so bad!! Lena actually asked me/begged me to take her to the ER. Poor baby!
Today I am showing you one of my favorite "pinks" in my house.
Look just a little closer....
It's definitely not the Sweet-N-Low. That's Papa Bears!!
It's this cute votive candle holder my sister gave me for Christmas one year.
She knows how much I love teapots. And this one is just perfect. Since it sits near the stove it does get dirty....and only I can hand wash it. How sweet is this little rose that sits on the lid?
I love the way it looks when I have it lit inside.
This is the view at night....
I have a battery operated votive candle inside. I would never leave a candle burning. But it casts such a cozy glow....I just love it!

Planting My Pomegranate

Last Thursday, the first day of fall, we went to the nursery near my mothers house and bought some plants. Most of them haven't been planted yet...ok..all of them except for this one... my pomegranate tree. Well, it's Papa Bear's pomegranate tree.
I decided to put it where the yellow rose bush was before it died.
So this was the area that I took the shovel to! Lena's little pink shovel that is!
I made the hole deep enough and wide enough to fit the plant.
Set it in the hole. At first it was a bit too big, I guess I got shovel heavy...so I covered up some of the hole. I accidentally dropped an acorn in there too. I told CC I hope we don't get another tree! I was only half way joking because I don't even know if that is possible!
So here it is!! Papa Bear is so happy! I can't wait to plant my crape myrtles tomorrow. Or cape turtles as CC calls them!
CC read that the pomegranates grow biggest and produce the best fruit when they are in direct sunlight. So I am expecting a huge tree with enough fruit to feed south Texas! This spot gets direct sunlight at least 6 hours or more a day! It will be interesting to see how it really does!!

Introducing Tiramisu

CC had been wanting another pet and she was pretty settled on fish. Then out of the blue she decided on a rat....
We bought one Friday night, named her Willow but she seemed lonely so we went the next day and bought her a cage-mate on Saturday and named her Meadow. Meadow would bully Willow and drag her around the cage and make her cry, so we knew she had to go back sadly.
Meadow was so social and friendly to us and Toby but she just didn't like Willow, or at least she was very aggressive to Willow.
We took Meadow back and got another rat Monday. She actually bit CC so on Wednesday we decided to return both rats, Willow and Meadow. I feel like I've been at Petsmart everyday this past week.
We talked and discussed what we should do next as far as a pet for her. We had the cage, bedding, water bottle...she had to get something!
Say hello to "Tiramisu" our new guinea pig!
She is just too cute. Today we started socializing with her. She loves the fresh carrots I give her every morning!! She is just too stinking cute!!
Toby wants so bad to figure out what she is!!
So now our household consists of 2 cats, 1 dog, 1 guinea pig and numerous snails. I'm scared to know what's next!

Five Question Friday

1. Did you have a pen pal when you were little (or now)? Where were/are they from?

I did. And this is funny because I have been thinking about her so much lately. I wrote in to an ad in my Barbie magazine, could have been Highlights but I'm pretty sure it was Barbie. Her name was Christina Rogney. We wrote each other for about a year. We even exchanged school pictures. I think she was from Colorado but I'm not sure. I tried to find her on Facebook but couldn't. It would just be fun to say hello and see how she is now!

2. If you could do a different job for one day, what would it be?

Before I would have said SAHM but now I can't say that anymore. And the reasons why I wanted that were selfish..to stay home and rest. I know now that there is NO resting for a SAHM....at all! So this is hard...I would like to do two different jobs.
A.) OB/GYN - As long as I can remember I have always wanted to deliver babies. I've also always wanted to open a clinic for low income/no income young teen girls to have their regular prenatal check-ups. In San Antonio there are so many young pregnant girls and we have the highest number of repeat pregnancies. I think if the girls are cared for and educated the first time there wouldn't be as many getting pregnant a second time.
B.) LOCAL MORNING TALK SHOW HOST - I'm not wanting to sit beside Regis or anything....just host a local morning talk show. I would know more about what's going on in SA and they ALWAYS get great free tickets to whatever Broadway show is here! Ahhh! Yes, I'm jealous! And again selfish!

3. Do you remember your biggest fear from when you were little?

Getting lost from my mom or kidnapped. I don't think there could have been a bigger fear ever. Now I have that same fear with my girls. Seriously, they are 9 and 14 and they know the rule is never to be an arm length away from me at any time any where. It only takes two seconds for something bad to happen and then you can never get those two seconds back. I refuse to allow something bad to happen because I turned my head or let them go grab something from another aisle real quick! This is also why I do not talk on my cell phone when I am grocery shopping with either one of them as well.

4. What do you think is a waste of time? Why?

Sleeping until 12. I cannot find any reason for doing so unless you are very sick.
Telemarketers - In this technologically advanced society, if we want a new credit card, cell phone, charity, etc. we probably know how to get it. Calling me at 8:01 Sunday morning or 8:58 any given night will usually not get a very nice response from me!

5. What is the oldest item you have in your closet?

I have a nightgown set that belonged to my sisters aunt. She passed away from cancer when I was very young. Why I have her nightgown set I have no idea but I've always held it in a special place for my sister and have taken excellent care of it for her. My sisters daughter is 15 and I would think she would want to pass it down to her but she's hasn't even asked for it yet. It's a thin red nightie made of silky material with soft thin lace at the neckline and edging the housecoat (of the same material).
