Why You Don't Give A 7yr old Dr. Pepper

My niece has been staying with us this past week. Her mom told me not to give her too much caffeine. I forgot.

Park & Pizza

We girls got this crazy idea to go to the dog park so Luigi could play. CRAZY because it was almost 100 degrees at lunch time!! We did take lots of drinks with us. As CC watched Luigi played I took the girls to the playground area.
At first Lena was a bit apprehensive about climbing.

She quickly got over it!

Ari went right at it! She was climbing and jumping all over the place. Notice I put a bow in her hair? I was so happy to have a little girl I could put bows on!!

I think this is my favorite photo of the day!!

Ari is fearless... fearless I tell you!

When we walked over to another area I saw the ground was cracking open. We have been so hot and so dry here it's unbelievable!! CC told me my backyard is starting to do this too!

The girls found this cute play thing. You stand up in it and with the weight of your body move it in circles. The girls were leaning a bit and spinning like crazy! It looked so fun!! I wished I could have joined them but there were too many other adults around and I didn't want to make a fool of myself! Ha!!

Lena couldn't wait to swing. Even though we were so hot and tired Lena really wanted to swing!

Arianna had never had homemade pizza! So, we decided to treat her to it this evening. I was lazy (exhausted from all the heat) and went with store bought pizza crusts instead of making it homemade like I usually do. I laid all the toppings out so we each could put what we wanted on our pizza.

Fresh mozzarella...nothing like it!

fresh mushrooms

Italian sausage. Ari had never had this either. She LOVED it!

fresh basil.... a must in our house!

some fresh tomatoes....

and of course pepperoni.....

Ari really enjoyed making her own pizza....

Our tummies were all full from dinner. It was sooooo good! It's so good and so simple to make.

Right now we are making Rainbow Cupcakes. It's alot of work but it's pretty and the girls have truly enjoyed making them!! They can hardly wait for them to cool so we can frost them.

Right now Lena and Ari are sitting at the table playing music videos on YouTube and singing. Papa Bear is laying in bed watching George Lopez and CC is in her room with Luigi and Toby.

I am relishing these days that I have a few minutes to blog! I am usually so rushed! And to be honest there is a heap of clothes waiting to be washed. And they can wait until tomorrow!! This momma needs a rest!

Weekend Fun & A Sweet Visitor

We had another super hot weekend where we couldn't even go out much. CC and I did manage to water the roses and trees and grapevine later in the evening.
One thing CC and I did do was JUST DANCE......the Wii game... The girls always get surprised when I can kick their booties dancing. I try to tell them I haven't always been old and fat!! This was one of CC's favorite dances on there, Iko Iko, and as you can see..... I beat her!!

Toby was sleeping so sweetly on my bed I had to snap a picture.

On Sunday us girls were in Austin. We always stop at this particular gas station and it says Gruene, Texas is just down the street. So we drove and drove and drove. We didn't find Gruene, at least I don't think we did, but we did find the Guadalupe River and we found this cute street near it.
My niece's daughter, Arianna, came to stay with us for a week or so. She was with Mom last night and I picked up her this morning.

Today we had to take Mom to the imaging center to get another MRI on her back. While we were waiting this little lady started to talking to us. She talked to everyone. And she was burping and burping. Arianna almost died when the lady took her last dose of banana flavored medicine and shoved the cup in Ari's face and asked her if she wanted to smell it. It was quite funny!

The girls were getting a bit bored here at home so I took them to the new library that opened up a block away from our house. Walking trails are located behind the library. It's quite pretty!

Of course the girls wanted to go off track...lol... The mother in me wanted to tell them "no" but the kid in me remembered how it was to be that age and even though it wasn't a big part off track it did look pretty and interesting and I would have wanted to go to! So I let them go. I tagged right behind.

Arianna, Lena and CC

Ari walking to the top.

They made it!!

On the way down I saw this cactus. For some reason I love to photograph cactus. I just really like to. Don't' know why!

After we wore ourselves out walking in the 111 degree heat index we were all ready to head inside the air conditioned library!

We saw cute wall art inside. It's really a nice library.

Arianna simply idolizes CC. She can't keep her hands off of CC. She's her little shadow.

I left the girls at the library. This was a HUGE first for me. I have NEVER left my girls anywhere alone. EVER!!! Even Papa Bear was about to have a panic attack. But CC is 15 1/2 and I think it's time for them to try to venture out, not too far, and do some things with out us all the time. This 45 minutes at the library was a perfect start. And truth be told, I can almost guarantee you that's all it will be for a while. This momma needs baby steps! HA!!

~~~~
Tonight I made spaghetti. Ari loves spaghetti. We are all exhausted from the heat! I need rain and I need it bad!! The girls are all in Lena's room watching Aquamarine, Papa Bear is on the laptop looking at the WSOP stats and I am about to pop in "The Tourist" and watch that. Tomorrow we are taking Ari to Austin with us. And maybe stop for cupcakes!
PLAYING CATCH-UP
Wow.... I can't believe it's been almost two weeks since I last posted. I haven't fallen that far behind in quite a while! We have just been so busy with work (which is a good thing) and it's been so hot we haven't really had time to do anything......
I snatched this photo from my friends facebook page. THIS is the reason we have been keeping ourselves safe inside...it's so hot! The temp on his car is measuring a whopping 107 degrees... I can only imagine what the heat index was!
My last post showed my new white bed sheets that I am still in love with. As I was taking the sheets off to wash, Charlie decided to be a kitten again and got himself wrapped up in them. When he was just a baby he would run to the bed when he saw me putting fresh sheets on, or taking them off, and he would dive under the sheets and get real wild. I loved playing with him when he did that. It's nice to see some of that spark come back from time to time. He's usually so grouchy!
We had a rough time getting him out though....he had enough playing and wanted to sleep!
My Papa Bear also surprised me with a new phone. I am still figuring out how to take pictures with it. It has an HD option for videos and photos and a flash... Lena was one of the first to try the camera out.
Lately I have been obsessed with making French Toast for breakfast. Papa Bear makes probably the best French Toast I have ever tasted. I'm trying to catch up with him! I like to add some coffee sweetener (French Vanilla, Creme Brulee) in with my egg mixture but he doesn't like the French Toast sweet so I've been leaving it out for him.
I have complained before about the little squirrel in my back yard. He has destroyed 5 crepe myrtle trees, over 20 new baby basil we had sprouting, tomato plants, a sweet potato vine and knocks over the wheel barrows in my rose garden. He is a NIGHTMARE! The other morning I walked into the kitchen and caught him in the act.... he was swinging himself in CC's hanging sweet potato vine....
The basket was just rocking back and forth!! This picture really reminds me I need to go clean my window! Ha! And this is the same little booger that will throw acorns at Luigi!
CC needed some supplies for her Guinea Pigs, so we headed over to Pet Supply Plus Wednesday. We decided to take Luigi with us since it's pet friendly. Luigi decided to get in the front seat. We had a heck of a time getting him to the back seat. See Lena patiently waiting for him to move?
We've also had such pretty full (and almost full) moons. Last night was just amazing. It looked so close to us. I was driving so I couldn't get a picture. This is from Tuesday night.....
Last night CC and I rushed to Austin before the store closed at 9. We literally just made it. I walked into the store at 8:56! We hadn't eaten and I drove like a mad woman at 80+mph to get there in time. So, after we successfully walked back to the car at 9:01 (all that rushing for 5 minutes of work! Ha!) we decided to stop at this delicious Chinese restaurant Serg told us about and Papa Bear and I tried...China Dynasty. Oh, it's so delicious!!!
And it's so pretty inside. They have the most relaxing instrumental music playing and the owners are so sweet and attentive. And the food....amazing!! I have been dying to try out the camera on my phone. CC was a bit apprehensive about modeling for me....
But then she finally gave in!
And if I look half dead...it's because I was!! I had just rushed like a maniac, I hadn't eaten since breakfast (not that it would hurt me!) and I was tired...just plain exhausted! It was so nice to sit down and not have to worry about time for once!
I ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan. Simply amazing!!
CC ordered Sweet and Sour Shrimp. This is what I ordered the first time Papa Bear and I went. It is soooooo good! CC is not a fan of Chinese food but she did say this was the best she's had, she never expected it to be this good.
Lena stayed with my Mom because she put highlights in her hair and she was nervous about coming home and Daddy seeing it. Mom laughed and said Emil is probably used to it, bless his heart! Ever since he has been in this family my Papa Bear has seen Mom and me with every possible hair color imaginable! Seriously! Mom worked in salons for many years and changing hair color is just something you do! Light for summer, dark for fall. It's pretty normal in our house. CC had her first highlights when she was about 4! I need to find the picture of that! Ha!
~~~

I think my niece is coming for a visit this weekend. She is just the sweetest little thing. I have to prep myself for three kids. It's going to be a challenge. I like things structured and quite...we've been trying to find things to do to keep her busy that doesn't cost a fortune AND will keep us out of the heat. It turns out there isn't much! I NEED IDEAS! Ok. I need to get cleaning now.... laundry never seems to cease! Nor does sweeping, and dusting, and folding......
